Get Into The Mood !
Practical and Real Life Strategies To Help You Start Organizing
Now that spring is upon us, many of you are looking forward to spring cleaning while others are avoiding it like a plague. Don't fret! Always remember, being organized is a skill that can be learned, practiced and incorporated into your daily life. Here are some practical and real life strategies that should help:
- Catch the Mood - When you are in your closet, have time to spare, and you start moving things around, or taking things out, go with the flow and organize. Take on what you have time for and clean it out and get it out. Donate clothing in good condition.
- Make it fun- Get the whole family involved. Ask the kids to go through their own closets and have a prize for whoever finishes first or got rid of the most items.
- Divide up larger organizing projects into smaller ones -- those that can be completed from start to finish in one dash. This keeps the project stimulating and keeps your interest high, as well as reduces the chances that you will be interrupted, tire of the project or become distracted.
- Do one thing at a time- Everything at the same time is often the least successful way to get one thing done well. Choose one project and get it done before moving on to the next.
- Always Subtract before you Add- Limit the number of commitments you accept and make a rule that you will not add another commitment until you either finish or eliminate prior commitments. Same applies for clothing, books, and more.
